Salary: Depending on experience, between $23,750 and $30,000 annualy.
In any fast-paced, dynamic nonprofit, a stable and efficient work environment is critical for success. The financial assistant works with Environment America’s administrative director to coordinate the financial management of the organization, create and manage the budget, oversee states and federal corporate filings, and provide organizational support to Environment America’s staff.
Specific responsibilities of the financial assistant include:
<b>Financial Operations:</b> Maintain the organization’s financial records using the QuickBooks accounting program; handle accounts payable and receivables, track income, and manage personnel benefits using basic accounting; complete corporate tax and other legal filings; and help prepare for the yearly audit.
<b>Budget creation:</b> Aid in the creation and tracking of the organization’s $4M budget; help create maintain grant spending plans; and help create financial reports for grant funders.
<b>Office Management:</b> Manage lease agreements with subtenants, including collecting rent from tenants; oversee office appearance, equipment maintenance, computer maintenance and tracking, vendor relations, and building maintenance.
<b>General Administrative:</b> Assist the administrative director in the ongoing operations of the organization; occasionally cover switchboard; maintain current and create new information & filing systems; help coordinate organizational meetings and event logistics; provide other administrative back-up as needed.
</b>Qualifications</b>

We seek highly motivated individuals with a strong commitment to the environment and the public interest and a desire to work in the nonprofit field; a basic understanding of bookkeeping or accounting either through previous experience or education; qualified applicants should be goal-driven and results-oriented with a friendly and professional demeanor; applicants should be detail-oriented, enjoy administrative work, and keep a clean and a well-organized office; excellent communication and organization skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously are also necessary; experience using Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer programs.
</b>Salary & Benefits</b>

Salary ranges from $23,750 to $30,000 depending on experience. The benefits package includes educational loan assistance for qualified staff, a retirement plan, paid vacation and sick days, parental leave, and a dependent care assistance program. Health care is provided for experienced applicants; entry-level staff may elect to join our health care plan through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
