Job Description
This is a full-time position for an organizer, recruiter, and service representative for Education Austin. Applicant will be expected to work under the direction of local elected leaders and the organizing director to perform field organizing, membership recruitment, leadership develop-ment and training, writing and designing publications, and problem solving/grievance handling. Employment in this position is guaranteed only through December 2010.
Qualifications
Skills:  must be self directed
 experienced with union activities
 knowledgeable about public education
 demonstrate leadership abilities
 demonstrate good verbal communication and writing skills (Spanish-language skills preferred but not required)
 demonstrate good interpersonal skills
 demonstrate knowledge of office computer applications
 must own a working automobile
Organization Description
Education Austin is a 4,000-member local affiliate of the Texas State Teachers Association/NEA and the Texas Federation of Teachers/AFT which organizes and represents Austin Independent School District employees.
