ABOUT THE JOB
The Analytics Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY seeks applications for the full-time position of Data Analyst. Since 2016, the ACLU has seen an incredible growth in members, who give their time and money in the fight to defend civil rights in the United States. Going into 2020 and beyond, we have a range of ambitious goals, which demand that we are able to make smart, data-driven decisions.

We are looking to hire a Data Analyst focused on performing analyses that lead to compelling reports, dashboard solutions, and recommendations for changes in how the ACLU operates based on data. Analysts will work in teams alongside data scientists, data engineers and business users, to enable the use of innovative data-driven methods and advanced analytics to transform the way the ACLU approaches fundraising, digital communications, and supporter engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be part of the Engagement Analytics team, and work with team members across Analytics as well as stakeholders in our Fundraising, Digital, and Communications teams. You will work with our membership/donation data, polling/surveys, voter files, web and other digital data.

Below is a sampling of projects you can expect to dive into:
* Building dashboards that guide decision making to improve donation rates and increase engagement on our website and digital content
* Developing return-on-investment analyses across different fundraising channels (e.g., digital, telemarketing, canvassing)
* Designing metrics for our supporters’ engagement via social media, email, and other digital channels
* Leading tests that improve the performance of our content and channels

The ideal candidate will have a passion for civil liberties and civil rights, and:
* Demonstrate a commitment to diversity within the office using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regards to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance
* Commit to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts

This role reports to the Director of Engagement Analytics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* 1-3+ years of experience building analytics reports and visualizations using a variety of tools in a political campaign, non-profit, or business setting
* Undergraduate degree in an analytical field (e.g., Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business) or equivalent experience
* Experience with a variety of dashboarding/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) and ETL solutions
* Experience with databases and database query languages (e.g., SQL)
* Commitment to the mission of the ACLU

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge of basic U/X and design principles
* Knowledge of web analytics tools (e.g., Heap)
* Knowledge of analytics programming languages (e.g., R, Python)
* Knowledge of CRM technologies such as Salesforce
